2013 / Site-specific installation / Metal chain, painted metal plates, metal rings, nails, light, sound

Site specific installation during residency program Installation, Sculpture and New Media Art at SVA, New York, NY, faculty Frank Gillette, Michael Joaquin Grey, Alois Kronschlaeger and Nicolas Touron.

Chandelier speaks of something that already happened although the viewer is left in the unknown. Although the chandelier has most of its elements, it is entirely destabilized and rendered dysfunctional without any lights and held up by multiple thin chains on the walls. The sidewalls become the main support, reversing the original vertical balance where now the weakest links become the strong parts holding the piece together. The sound element of the piece fortifies the ambiguity on how to read the object and situation and how to interpret the unsteadiness and suggested instability of the installation.
